just finished rchop chemotherapy and hiv tested.

Hi all,

I just finished my 8th round of r-chop chemotherapy for NHL (DLBCL). Last friday was my last session, last prednisone was tuesday this week (3 days ago). Today (6/24/2011) I decided to get tested for HIV since all I ever read about online was how common it is in this diagnosis.

I tested NEGATIVE in a blood rapid test.

My question is, it had been over a year since my last sexual contact .. Is it possible that I could be positive and tested to soon after chemotherapy? Should I test again in a certain time frame after chemotherapy?

I would suggest a retest because of the chemo. I would also not take a rapid ask your hemotologist to run the test or recommend a infectious disease doctor to test you.
