Yes. Chemo therapy will severely compromise your immune system and could prolong the window period. Apart from that, no.

According to the Body, hiv medication prolongs the window period.

Hi Ham1973, just read your story so my last post might worry you which it should not!
Because you are on PEP, that should not prolong your window period..
Antiretroviral therapy during the window period can delay the formation of antibodies and extend the window period beyond 12 months.[3] This was not the case with patients that underwent treatment with post exposure prophylaxis (PEP).
Google: "Negative HIV antibody test results among individuals treated with antiretroviral therapy (ART) during acute/early infection"

Astounding. Here you spout so much junk yet, have no idea that PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis) does indeed extend the window period by the one month a person takes it. It a course of Anti-retroviral treatment (ART) started within 72 hours and lasting 30 days.
PEP and ART for those people WITH HIV use the same medications. Duh.....

Crabman, you are correct same medication but different timing..
PEP just after risk..
ART, when you get symptoms and a positive PCR and/or antibody test.. normally after 2-4 weeks, when infection already is in the body..
Correct, that you need to add the month on PEP, 3 months after PEP, conclusive testing!

yes, your window period is 3 months after you've finished PEP. but since it was a needle stick from confirmed HIV-positive patient, this is a case where some experts have suggested testing again at 6 months just to be sure. i would be ok with 3 months though.
keep in mind that PEP has a very high rate of success, 79%, so the odds are in your favor!
