I'm an Indian origin. I shaved my head recently for an Indian ritual and applied sandalwood paste on my head. All hindus will do the same thing and share the same sandalwood paste container. But I'm worried what if HIV exists in the paste as it was shared by all after shaving head.
My concern is since everyone is shaving their head for the ritual/prayer and almost all of us will have small cuts and wounds. By sharing the sandalwood paste container and the paste itself, the paste might have contaminated with blood as everyone is using hand to get the paste and apply in the head and re-apply for many times.
Assuming, I had small cuts/wounds which was bleeding on head after shaving and I applied the sandalwood paste which was contaminated with blood from other people.
Can HIV spread in this manner?

nope, not a risk for HIV. sharing sandlewood paste while shaving your heads, even if you had small cuts, is not considered a risk for HIV.
