unexplained reactive arthritis, would test be + ?
      #254259 - 02/06/11 07:02 PM

Just under 3 months ago, I had what I have been assured to be a negligible risk encounter- unprotected oral, protected vaginal with a hooker.

About 1 month after, I developed arthritis in one joint, which still persists and a skin rash on my scalp. I have been tested at 7 weeks for HIV with antibody blood work, and at 10 weeks with HIV rapidtest blood, both results negative. At the 7 week one I also tested negative for gono, chlamydia, and syphilis.

I just have this lingering anxiety due to the arthritic finger joint, mainly when I read the potential causes of it and HIV being up there on the list-potential meaning the reactive arthritis is caused by my body reacting to HIV virus- and it being completley unexplained by any infection. Is iteven a common enough symptom of intial HIV? Would having reacitve arthritis sysmptoms- if they were caused by HIV- mean that my blood work would be positive since my body was fighting it?

Thank you.
