CMIA method
      #253659 - 12/23/10 06:36 AM

Hello ,

I got a lab test for HIV after 6 weeks of exposure but the lab was not using the ELISA method but the CMIA method.
The test was HIV Ag(p24) / HIV Ab (type1 + type 2) CMIA method. The results were negative, I was told by the doctor in the lab that this test is better than ELISA and can detect infection earlier however i noticed that the most common method is ELISA and besides this the protein that this test detects may not be present on 6th week.
Anyone knows how accurate is this test? The lab doctor even told me (without knowing my possible risk of infection) that there is no reason to repeat any test...

Please advice.....

Thanks so much

very accurate. as the lab doc told you, you don't need to repeat any test.

even more so since your risk was nonexistent. you had protected vaginal sex. not a risk. now you have a test to confirm that.

it's not HIV.
