Hi,
I was prescribed Combivir for a PEP regimen as a precaution following a possible exposure. From what I can gather on the web, Combivir is typically prescribed in tandem with another drug. Was the doctor unwise to prescribe the Combivir only? Thank you.

based on what you described as your possible exposure (possible dipping), i would not have started PEP, but since you did already, Combivir as a standalone for PEP is fine.
Ask the Expert's PEP questions.

Beside the fact you had a low/no risk that really didn't warrant PEP, you have also added a month to your waiting period. Testing guidelines state that the window period starts AFTER PEP is finished and so your conclusive test result will have to be at 4 months past your possible exposure.
