My condom slipped off while having sex with a sex worker. What is my risk?
I am 35 years old male.
Yestarday I was having sex with a sexual worker suddenly we both notice the condom was slipped off. I think the time unprotected was around 1 minute. What is the risk that I have?...She promised me that she is very carefull and it was the first time that happen to her and all the intercourses she has are protected. Anyway I am still very worried. Could you give me the idea about the odds of HIV infection by the situation?

Docs on the forums here will not play the odds game , but go to "medhealth.com" go to their "ask the experts forum " and present your question to the archives . The DOCS answers are VERY informative and highly educational . You'll find your answer there . I will tell you the odds are highly in your favor and that as a general rule csw's make clients wear condums to protect them from you NOT you from them ! But there's always that but ........even she was infected it is generally believed that most % of infections take place when an hiv infected person is FIRST infected (First 3-5 months ) as that's when their viral load is exploding after that time the body brings down the viral load to a much lower level , so if she was positive most likely it's been a while , and the chance of infection is much less, in addition it is much harder for a women to give it to a man rather that a man to woman , especially in "seconds" . In finality as you can read a lot of circumstances have to be against your favor , including just the stats themseleves for an infection to have taken place . I would say you're better than 85% odds free of having been infected . You will need to start testing , even for just peace of mind , just the fact you found this forum shows your proper concern and responsible behavior . Let us know what happens or if you need advice on how to search for free Hiv testing in your state.

I am not a Doctor but, from what you have written it seems the chances are slim. In such situations you want to be aware of any wounds or scratches (openings) on the penis as this is the only way it could have spread if indeed your female partner was infected.
