Undetected HIV-1 RNA,PCR at 17 weeks
      #252035 - 09/10/10 06:37 PM

hiya all i have the results of my 17 close to 18 weeks results of a PCR RNA for HIV-1 and it was undetected testing was done by COBAS AmpliPrep (Roche Molecular systems) qualification range of this assay is 48 to 10,000.000 copies i also went to a different clinic a couple of days ago and i got another antibodies test for HIV 1/2 done at the 18 week and it was negative it was the rapid blood test with the finger prick, the infectious disease guy told me that he has never seen somebody with so many symptoms and problems and he set me up for a consultation with two senior infectious disease specialist because he said that clearly there's something wrong with me and he cannot pinpoint what it is.. i asked him about people who go straight from hiv to aids within a year or so and they always test negative because their immune system are so compromised that they can't mount up a detectable amount of antibodies and he said that it does happen but extreme rare (i.e. a few rare cases ever) but he said this wouldn't be my case because, only people undergoing chemo,i.v druggies and people on meds for life due to an organ transplant.

well i hope you get some answers from the specialists. but i think it's about time you stop looking at HIV as the culprit. clearly, you're negative.

That's the right RNA to take , there's no way your keeping your V.L. under 48 copies .
When you go to specialist ask for group N & O antibody test and elisa specific for hiv 2 . He'll know what would not would have shown up with your test list and start with the outlander testing . There are also other markers in the blood with a full panel blood test that are indicative of infection that the specialist would know to look at , he would not relie on just the antigen or antibody test . After scraping that last bottom of the Hiv barrel , it's time to look else where , let us know . . .

Cobas AmpliPrep is the automated system in all likelyhood you got a TaqMan HIV RNA PCR test done.

This HIV RNA PCR is accurate for:

Group M (A-D, F-H; CRF01_AE)

Group O and N are much much too rare to worry about. Everything points to you not having HIV. Good luck on figuring out what is wrong with you.
