tested at six weeks
      #251494 - 08/03/10 11:42 AM

Ok so I tried my first time as a bottom with a gay guy. I sucked his penis unprotected for like 3 secs but then before he put a condom on he very slighty pushed his penis inside me then he put on a condom and put it up but then immediately removed it cos I said I didnt like it. About two days had passed then I immediatley freaked out about everything and started looking up HIV symptons on the net which I think was a bad idea. The only thing I had was a sore throat about a week after the exposure and diarrhea for like a day but i think this was a side effect from when they gave me a HEP B jab. He has assurred me 100% that he is HIV negative and is tested every three months he even offered to come down to the sexual health clinic with me but I declined. I didnt catch any little STI's from him with the results, I had a finger prick HIV test yesterday at 6 weeks (44 days not including the day it happened) which came back negative, he is telling me that i'm being an absolute freak about the whole thing and maybe it is just down to my anxiety which I do stress about everything plus the fact it was my first time with a man. Im in the UK so not sure what type of finger prick test it is but it came back negative. I am obviously due back in another 6 weeks but they said it would have to be the full lab test because the finger pricks do give out false positives. I know its hard to get an answer until you get your results so any help would be good, thanks

Lucky You . . . . new

You've a partner who is willing to do what is necessary to help aleviate your fears , something most of us woud hope for ourselves and you do not want to take him up on his offer ...?
6 weeks will be positive for 90% + infected persons , so you're in great shape , take him up on his offer will you , his negative will really reinforce your negative test . BTW CDC recomended finger prick tests are highly accurate and reliable , like 98% +++ .
You have the means to correct your anxiety , but choose not to , what's up with that ? Also, call the clinic and see what kind of test you had done , if it's aproved it's as good as the Elisa they'll give you in 6 weeks . Both tests are highly unlikely to give false positives or false negatives . You do need to test out to 3 months but at this point it's going to be for re-assurance only .
Again take your gracious partner up on his offer , you don't have to go in and hold his hand , just be there to hear / read his results, and also to find out what kind of finger prick test you had .
Oh yea , lastly , I'm just saying NO , to you and HIV !

I am sorry you are going through that. :-( HIV is still an epidemic among gay/bisexual men, so this guy should understand that you're worried.

I hope your experiences with guys in the future are better. Most gay/bisexual guys are very responsible about condom use.
