systemic yeast infection
      #250955 - 06/30/10 12:26 AM

I posted a while ago about some weird symtoms i was having wondering if it could be a sign of acute hiv infection. I went to the doctor and was told i had a systemic yeast infection. I haven't taken antibiotics lately, and don't know why i could have gotten it. I am on the medication right now and hopefully it works.

Anyway, my question is, is it possible that this systemic yeast infeciton could be hiv related? I only had the unprotected sex 1 month before i came down with this. And i had no symptoms of acute hiv infection such as fever or anything. Just wondering if its possible that i could have contracted hiv and in only a month it would have weakened my immune system and i could have gotten this? That sounds highly unlikely to me, but i do have Lupus already (not on meds that weaken immune system though) so my immune system is already irregular.

I am getting tested at the 3 month mark, i figure why do it early. But until then i am obsessing about it. I just wanted to hear if you guys had any info on whether or not this could be possible. How long does it take for hiv to weaken the immune system? Is this even possible or am i just freaking out?

Everythings possible , now for probables which are much more realistic : girls get yeast infetions from boys ALL the time . Girl's get yeast infections from natures great placement of your urethra right above the vagina, you wipe the wrong way : up instead of down , after peeing , you get infections .
No , the yeast infection would have nothing to do with your worry of HIV .
If you test at 6-8 weeks you can almost br 100% assured at that point that a negative test will remain negative at 13 weeks . There's a new DUO test just approved that will give reliable results in 6 weeks , it's been used in England , Australia, and other countries for a few years now . if you can find it , take it ! Otherwise go to a clinic and get free and anonymous instant test, maybe bring Romeo from a month ago along with you ,then you can rest easy , both of you .
You are mostly freaking out .
