It will be two weeks after my 4 week 1 day test was taken and still no results. I called 2 days ago and they weren't in yet so my assumption is I have HIV and it's taking so long because they have to confirm my first positive test.

I think no one is answering because you did not ask a question. You are assuming that you are positive, and there is nothing that anyone can tell you to make you think differently.
The only thing that we can all do is wait along with you. If you are negative, then we can celebrate with you. If you were to report back with a positive result, I am sure from what I have been seeing here, you will get support!
You just need to calm down so that persons will actually be willing to answer, okay?

The fear I have everytime the phone rings is indescribable. Today I got a phone call from a number very very similar to that of my doctors and my heart sank, I feeling like no other came over me and I felt as though I had died and ruined my family. I googled the number and was happy to find it wasn't my doctors as the number was only a few digits different.
It's hard not to think I've been infected when the symptoms like swollen glands for a week or so and a dry couch and a muscle/joint ache here and there all point to my possible exposure 3 weeks prior. Didn't help my wife had brief symptoms a week and a half after we slept together. It's been 4 weeks for her now and she feels fine except she says she's tired but it could be lack of sleep but everything points to HIV. She also has a small bump under her earlobe ... All this scares me I want to die I can't believe I did this to my life

My symptoms also disappeared after a week which scares me since not only A: it's within the 2-4 week post exposure time ARS occurs but B: it last for one week which by reading the info here is the average time for ARS.
I just have a gut feeling that it's not good. I am praying to god that he helps me dodge a bullet by some miracle.... I wouldn't be so worried if I were single I could deal with it but it now all seems so stupid to risk everything for some sex.

Hey just relax. I wanna say a lot of the symptoms you are describing sound similiar to what I had myself. I had swollen glands all over my body after a risky exposure, lost 15lbs n had a lot of other symptoms come all at once and some are still present to this date and its been 7mnths. Either way I would advise you to just wait on the results. I know it can be hard waiting for them and sometimes it seems like forever. I can tell you that just like me a few other people have a hard time accepting our results. I just tested negative again @ 7mnths. so I can continue to worry or continue living. You just have to wait for ur results. At 4wks still kind of early but get ur negative now and then another one at 6-8wks or just wait till the full 13wks to get ur conclusive result. Either way just don't dwell on symptoms, I have learned 1st hand what fearing this disease can do to us. Best of luck.

Im still fearing the disease and havnt tested yet. I know when I test though my results will be conclusive because Im well passed the 6 month mark. Congrats for actually getting the test. Thats the first step. By the way at 3 months is when the test will be conclusive that you either do or dont have HIV. Good Luck!

That's what I hear, but I've read that a large portion of people (95%) will have detectable antibodies by or at 6 weeks. 3 month is 99.99% accuracy...
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and praying. Please let us know your results. I just gotmine from my 5 week test

Red, I think what we have to accept is that HIV is not a death sentence. When my scare first occurred, I was soooo distraught, the only person I could think to contact was an HIV pos cousin. He was so awesome in his response. He said what everyone here has said to you and I. It's not the end of the world unless you let it be! You do not have to do it alone if you are, and people (including my cousin) live for 20 years and you'd never know they have it unless they tell you (like my cousin). I'm finding in spite of the stigma and myths, It's like any other illness...you get it, you treat it, you live. Hope this helps...stop obsessing please...not because you're bothering me, but because I did the same thing and as soon as i stopped coming to this forum 500 times a day and re-focused on things like family, work, and LIFE...my symptoms subsided
