Comments on exposure ...?
      #250492 - 05/25/10 07:24 PM

Twenty second unprotected oral without discernible pre-cum, and definitely without ejaculate . Performed on partner claiming negative status . 3 days later came down with swollen tonsils , hurt to swallow, fever, nasty persistent cough. Took docs antibiotic for 5 days all cleared up EXCEPT for much lesser remaining sore throat (Doc says nasal drip at fault ) and lessened swollen feeling at tonsils . Cough just about cleared up 30 days later . As a precaution had a full panel std test (Awaiting results) and a Ora-Quick blood draw negative at 25 days . Doc says this is going around as he's seen 5 fold increase in his office ,a few guy and girl friends who are definitely negative have related similar symptoms and drawn out recoveries. If there was pre-cum but it was not noticed how does this change possible hiv exposure. Are bi- weekly tests recommended up to the 12 week mark ..?

To SRCHFRANS34

I am not an expert but i have talked to several HIV specialist and STD clinic nurses and also spend sometime doing my own research on this disease to know a bit more than the average person.

1st off ur symptoms came on to early to be HIV. HIV symptoms can start as earty as 7 days but not 3 days. But the majority wont get symptoms till about 2-4wks. So it sounds like u had a basic cold/flu.

Now the most important point that you willl get told on every forum that you go to is that oral sex is considered a very, very, very unlikely way for HIV to be transmited. this has been studied various times with magnetic couples as Dr. Bob has mentioned on his forum Q&A. So again over all i dont think you have anything to worry about. But if u want to feel better get tested at 6-8wks and then get ur 3 month conclusive but again i dont feel like u need a test. Again I dont expect the negative to change.

"Twenty second unprotected oral without discernible pre-cum"

I'm confused what was your exposure? Certainly not this!

The reason there is only a 1 in 10,000 per occurance chance of getting HIV from giving a blowjob to an infected guy WITH ejaculation is because Saliva has been shown in studies to inhibit HIV.

Use condoms for any anal or vaginal intercourse and you will be fine. Have a good life.
