Well, kids, this is it. For those of you who know my story, it has been 8 months since my last possible exposure. I am finally getting tested again. I skipped my 6 month because I was scared, but now I can wait no longer. I have met a wonderful man and would like to pursue a possible relationship with him, but I can't with this hanging over my head. So I have gotten my final testing and I should have the results next week. If they come out the same (ELISA - Pos, Western Blot - Neg) I will be considered completely negative. Please pray for me. I love you all. KAY

Well, basically, the first test that they do is the ELISA. It is a VERY SENSITIVE test. If it comes out negative, then no problem. But if it comes out positive, then they do another test called a Western Blot. The Western Blot is a VERY SPECIFIC test. Because the ELISA is so sensitive, it can react positive to things other than HIV, So the Western Blot is used as a confirmation for HIV. If the Western Blot comes up negative then either you have HIV and it's simply too early to tell, or there is something else in your system that is reacting the ELISA. Because I have been getting these results for so long, with no change in the Western Blot, if this test comes back the same I will be considered completely negative. Please pray for me! Thanks Love, KAY
