Followup on incident
      #249750 - 03/13/10 12:57 PM

Hello,

I posted earlier about an incident two days ago. I reached down in a trash can to get my keys, and there were paper towels with fresh blood on them. I had some small new cuts on my hands (bled a bit that morning but not when i reached in to get the keys) from the cold weather. The person in there before gets bad nosebleed apparently. i also didn't notice any blood on my hands when i pulled them out. i washed them immediately.
I was concerned about possible exposure. Mushroom answered nicely on here (thanks btw). I also asked a legit online site about this. The doctor said that while the risk is essentially nonexistent, he would -recommend- PEP just to be on the safe side and for peace of mind.
i really do not know how to react to this. Input?

You're doctor is a fucking idiot. You had no risk and subjecting you to the harsh reality of antiretrovirals for no reason is just cruel. You need to find a humane doctor that doesn't freak out over an incident that posed NO RISK to you. I would find another doctor.....like last week. This one is trying to kill you.

He's an idiot and his lack of knowledge about HIV is detrimental to your health.

Thank you, Esmerelda.

I was pretty taken back by his answer. I talked to another professional who did not recommend PEP at all. It seems that is the concensus. Thanks again! I take it everyone else agrees?

if you want to waste your time and money then go ahead and listen to you stupid Dr but by the way even if you had a risk (wich you did not) pep is only effective in the first 48 hours you are to late any way

Agreed. No HIV risk. Mostly disgusting.
