Hi all,
Just would like some others opinions on my current situation.
3 weeks 4 days---My Doctors---Blood taken from vein in arm---Reactive Elisa---Negative Western Blot 5 weeks 2 days---Home Test----Blood from poke in finger---Non Reactive Elisa 9 weeks 4 days---Home Test---Blood from poke in finger---Non Reactive Elisa 10 weeks 4 days---My Doctors---Blood taken from Vein in arm---Reactive Elisa---Negative Western Blot. 4 months 1 week and 4 days --ID Specialist---Blood taken from Vein in arm---Reactive Elisa---Negative Western Blot.
Infectious Disease specialist says I have nothing to worry about and I do not have HIV. But I call the CDC and they tell me I should test up to 6 months.
I am a hetro male who had unprotected sex with this woman 1 time. I do not know her status and she is not a sex worker just a 1 night stand from a bar.
I would like to just forget about this and move on but the odd results and the conflicting answers from the CDC and the ID specialist bother me.
What do you all think?
Thank You.

The 'current' CDC RECOMMEDED testing guidelines are relics from 2001. If you call their hotline they have to give you advice based upon those guidelines.
The ID doctor has the ability to give you current information based upon the science of today, not 8 years ago.
You decide.

I was a bit concerned about how long I should test due to the positive ELISA tests I keep having. That is why I called the CDC and they told me that. I guess under normal circumstances I would have just walked away at the 3 month mark. But that damn test result keeps haunting me with the what if.
Anyway thank you for the reply.

when you have a postive elisa and a negative WB it is recommended that you test a second time. However you did and got the same results. That's one of the reasons your ID didn't feel you needed further testing. Some people get these results.
