I have delayed getting tested for 10 years.
I am a black male. I had unprotected sex with a sex worker in Atlanta, and contracted gonorrhea in 1999.
One week later I got the worst sore throat I ever had.
Four years later, I got post nasal drip from hell. Thick mucus, awfull sinus problems, ect. Nurse told me it was staph, and that my immune system is compromised for some reason.
I became a recluse, I have not dated, and all I've done is pick at my adult acne wondering if they are signs of advanced hiv.
I have been afraid to go to the dentist becuase I dont want to find out my tooth decay is due to hiv. I have high blood pressure, but have not been to a doctor because I was afraid of the blood tests.
I looked at all the statistics..I did everything I possibly could to contract the disease.
I am about to break down writing this post.
I finally got the nerve to get tested this past Saturday. Its has been 10 long years of maddening sickness for me.
I am here for all of you.
