Home Access uses 1st generation
      #24586 - 11/13/01 03:47 PM

Here I am sitting at the end of week 7. Last week I was in the US, so I used the opportunity to get a fast result using Home Access. I will get the results tonight. I found out they use a 1st generation test. They say the difference between 1st and 3rd is about 1 week.

My risk was protected sex with a sex trade worker. I have herpes from many years ago. I have been reading that just having the virus significantly increases my chances of getting HIV. I have had swollen nodes under my chin for 5 weeks and they are just starting to go down. This has now left me in a state of panic. I may have thrown my entire life away out of shear stupidity!

Yes Herpes can increase the risk of HIV transmission but only in instances of unprotected sex.

It would be better to go to a doctor or sexually transmitted diseases clinic because testing only for acquired immune deficiency syndrome human immunodeficiency virus won't give test results for other STDs that could be transmitted.
