Day 11. It goes on. I get up, I read about symptoms. I check myself over.
11 days ago I had three encounters, all unprotected oral (receiving), plus protected vaginal. One of these was particularly dodgy. Since then, I have been a complete basket case.
I've had a few symptoms: fatigue, swollen lymph nodes in my armpits, and a swollen tongue/sores in my mouth. In my more rational moments, I can convince myself that these are due to stress and anxiety. I've experienced it before.
Unfortunately, the rational moments are few and far between. None of the other big symptoms have yet to appear (knowing that it many cases none of them actually do and that the range of appearance can be from 1-6 weeks!).
Negative chlam and gon tests. Doc gave me something to help with the anxiety, too.
I am now considering a PCR DNA test (complete with risk of false positives) just to feel that I'm doing something proactive.
This has got to be the most hellatious time I've ever been through. But it helps reading other people's experiences. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Countingdays,
Oral sex does not carry risk of HIV transmission so don't worry about that. Saliva doesn't make for good transmission at all and no cases have ever been reported of HIV transmission that way.
As for your protected vaginal sex, if it was completely protected and nothing went wrong with the condom then that's also OK and you don't need to worry either even if one was "particularly dodgy" as you put it.
The problem with you now is that your anxiety has taken over and you start looking for symptoms. Believe me, in your state you will find them whether they are real or not, Probably all caused by stress and anxiety. Amazing how the human body actually does that.
Doing the PCR DNA will not help because when you get the results whatever they may be, you will still be wondering if they are correct or not and your anxiety will just multiply.
Take a deep breath, relax and don't worry. If you want to be 100% sure, get tested at 6 weeks and if you really want to also at 3 months. I am sure your results will be negative on both tests.

Hi Net -
Thanks for the words of suppport and advice. I really appreciate it. I understand the possible vagaries of the PCR test and will probably forego it.
I think you're right, too. If I can get my mind off of things, I feel better. But that isn't to say I don't have actual physical symptoms. Actually writing about it helps.
As to the rather dodgy event, it was with a CSW from an area of high HIV incidence. She provided the condom, make and model unknown. She finished the job uncovered by hand. I also have HSV2 with no ulcers at the time, another complicating factor...
Anyway, nothing to do but wait and wait...

Hey Countingdays,
If you used the condom correctly and it did not break, then everything is fine. Remember, if a condom fails then it is a major event. A condom does not end up with tiny little tears you cannot see. It breaks completely and you can't miss it.
Hand jobs are no risk as well so don't worry about that either. The HIV virus dies very quickly outside the body and with a hand job it is a no risk factor as well.
Another point to remember it that if the CSW actually had condoms and not you, then that means she was more responsible than you and does not want to catch anything from her customers either. Another plus point on her side and means she is concerned about her health as well.
As for your HSV2, don't worry either because you used a condom.
Stop worrying and get on with your life. Your anxiety is what you should be working on now and NOT HIV.
Stay healthy.
