i am male, had an encounter with another guy 2.5 weeks ago, involved kissing and oral both receive and giving. i gave only for a short amount of time, not sure how much precum was in mouth and had a canker sore in mouth. i had two cold sores that were crusted over and scabbed over below my lower lip, not sure if that was a risk or not. no ejaculate in my mouth. i just had a really high fever two nights ago with bad headaches, im feeling better now but im ******* freaked out becvause now i discover around my thighs and waist what looks like a rash??? tiny red patches on my skin of varying shapes and sizes, not uniform in pattern and again, small. im mostly better in terms of the fever, but i think my forehead still feels a little hot and i never checked to see if the rash existed when my fever was high since i just noticed today!
im so worried right now because all i've heard is that rash and fever occur concurrently only when HIV is present... this is what ive found on the net, and so im so frightened! however, my exposure was relatively low risl...what do you guys think?

Bob,
It is unlikely that you are experiencing ARS; you have had exposures, which were of extremely low risk. I really don’t think you should be worried, however, testing is always an option, if anxiety gets bigger of you.
Use condoms in future.
Good luck

Most people have no symptoms from initial infection with HIV. Some do show a flu like condition perhaps accompanied by a fever and rash. I would consider other STDs too.
Kissing is no risk. Oral sex is very low risk especially if the person has a low viral load. There are few proven cases of getting HIV by oral means in the method you described.
Your mouth and saliva are very hostile to the HIV virus. This is the primary reason your risk factor is so low.
Your fever and rash can be caused by other conditions too.
In all honesty HIV is fairly hard to catch as the virus is very weak. It takes a significant exposure to major body fluids especially blood and semen.
I suggest you should not worry about it but wait two months and get tested anyway.
And play safe. I would be more afraid of catching Hepatitis C than HIV. HIV is a walk in the park compared to that disease.

I know the odds are greatly in your favor. Try to relax and get tested in 8 weeks after the event to ease your fear. Get tested for all STDs. You might see a doctor ahead of time too and discuss your concerns and options. There are preventive-HIV treatments available as well.

Thanks. And wouldn't the only "preventive-care" be PEP, which obviously it is too late to use now?
