Gum Disease and Powerade situation
      #240263 - 06/28/08 03:48 AM

Greetings All,

I recently helped my sister move. She hired a friend she works with to help her. She passed out Powerade bottles to myself, her friend and my husband. Myself and the friend of my sister both had "blue" Powerades. The friend appeared to have gum disease. Not remembering or not paying attention to which Powerade was mine, I accidentally drank from the friend's bottle. I spit the drink out immediately.

Is it possible that I could have contracted HIV from this man if his gums were bleeding, seeing as how I had a cut/bump at the very top of my gums?

Would the Powerade or air have killed the virus?

Are my worries warranted?
