As many helpful replies as possible, please??
      #23898 - 10/28/01 11:12 AM

Hey guys. Thanks for the help before. I had a few more questions hopefully someone can help me on.
1.) While I know many symptoms can be caused by stress, I know the petechiae/red dots can not and neither can lymph node swelling. Can any other STD's cause these?
2.) This one's a paranoid question. Since I sent my blood sample away to a lab, how would I know how trustworthy they are? The lab that did my PCR had me go to a reputable place to have th eblood drawn but i don't know. My partner keeps yelling at me that no one would cheat me and I am being irrational but I do not know.
3.) Again about PCR: my understanding is that the test is more effective since it looks for the actual virus. If the test is taken say a week after ARS or seroconversion would it be possible that sufficient antibodies have developed to fight off the virus and make my viral load undetectable to the DNA PCR or would this always remain positive?
4.) At a clinic, is there any reason why nurses, etc. would stare at a patient? My fear of an accidental or deliberate exposure at the clinic sounds paranoid I know, but it would explain why the PCR was wrong since it was only two weeks after the test at the clinic and also it would explain why the nurses all looked at me with a pitying look. I know th elook was not in my head since my friend commented on it to me BEFORE I said anything.

I know how crazy all this sounds but when there is even the slightest possibility you see this stuff, I am sure many of you can relate. I would be better if I had some other explanation for my symptoms. I just can not find something else that would account for all of them, and believe me I've tried. I know I need to get tested to know for sure and I am Wednesday but some help until then would do a world of good. You don't even need a long detailed reply; you can just number your replies to my questions/concerns. Thanks so much for your help guys, may you all be well.

Hi worried

I don't know your possible exposure...
I do know the fear of HIV so I can understand your fears.
I wish I could be more helpful but what you posted hear is just being paranoid.
How long are you in your window ?
what was your possible exposure ?
take it easy.

Hi again
I wish I could help you out I dont know anything about those tests I take the good old free elisa test from the health clinic since I don't have money for the expensive tests.
If you are worried about the 1 time thing with that guy you know the odds are n your favor of not getting it if he had it.
I think you are being paranoid about the nurse but I understand because HIV will make you go crazy.
I wish I had help for you but since your tests said you don't have HIV I would be happy.
Once again there is nothing like the good old elisa test go for one ! why not ?

Ur paranoid actions may hurt others around you. I simply think that you need to face the facts. YOU DO NOT HAVE HIV.
