I am curious to the number of people alive in the US with HIV / AIDS. On the CDC website it states that as of Deceober a total of about 770,000 cases had been reported. Then later on it states that about 400,000 people have died. Are those 400,000 people out of the 770,000 people who were reported, or are there 770,000 people alive with it today? Does anyone know the amout of males who have contracted HIV heterosexually? Thanks for your time...

On the CDC website - the following information is available -
Total people living with HIV Infection and with AIDS as of Dec. 2000 (in the US, not including the US dependencies, possessions and associated nations) - 440,004. These are reported cases.
In 1999, CDC estimated that 800,000 to 900,000 persons in the U.S. were living with HIV or AIDS (This is the estimate of how many people have it)

Yes, many people around the world have it, but the majority are in South Africa, the US is still very low in infection rate. Be safe, always use a condom! or NO SEX...
