4th week negative Oraquick?
      #234986 - 01/06/08 07:37 PM

On December 5 , I had unprotected intercourse (vaginal insertive) with an escort who advertises bareback sex (I was a little drunk, the little head won. Biggest mistake of my life)

On December 11, the bottom right portion of my rib cage hurt. I went to a doctor who assured me it's nothing, and that it will heal itself.

Around Jan 1 onwards, I got a sore throat, and headache (no high fever). Since then, the sore throat is gone, but I feel extremely fatigued, slightly disoriented, and sleepy but I cant sleep.

On Jan 3 (30 day mark) I got a Oraquick (oral) test done. It came out negative.

I am uncircumcised.

Should I take comfort in the 30 day test coming out negative? I plan to get tested at the 6 week mark, as well as the 3 month.

Thank you in advance.

Your 4 wk NEG does offer some comfort since average time for seroconversion is about 25 days. Your 6 wk test will give you a better indication and your 3 mos will conclude testing.
The odds of infection for your exposure is 5 in 10,000 (1 in 2,000) if the source is POS. So the odds are in your favor. Follow-up on the recommended testing time frame and learn from this experience...
