HIV from saliva

Hi. I need your help. My fiance' apprehended a shoplifter where he works. The guy spit in his face. He can't remember if any of this mans saliva got into his mouth or eyes. Anyways, I told him he has nothing to worry about but he's very nervous. Is there anything anybody can tell him that would stop his worrying? I didn't think you could catch HIV from saliva. Am I right or does he in fact have somethng to worry about?

Probably not alot to worry about but why not get an HIV test anyway?

If it was just saliva, he would have had to injest 7 gallons of it! Even then, it would be too sparce to infect:o) There are NO known cases of HIV being passed from saliva...

Blood, Semen, Vaginal Secretions, Breast Milk
