ARS symptoms means virus can be detected?

Hi...If you have ARS symptoms two weeks after an unsafe episode and these symptoms are actually a sign of HIV infection, will the PCR test be able to detect the presence of HIV in that short time frame. After all, the symptoms of fighting the infection are already present, so will the test be able to detect the virus at that time? Thanks. Like others of you I went through this a few years ago as well and promised that I would never put myself through this personal hell of wondering if I am infected again....but I did it. Again, I promise not to repeat it. This time, I only hope I can keep to that promise.
