save your sanity
      #23217 - 10/11/01 12:37 AM

why test and get a poz result ?
why not wait and in a few years
if you are poz there will be better
meds for HIV.

If you test + now you will get on drugs that
are toxic and I just heard on the news that
scientist are working on a less Toxic HIV drug.

Maybe in a few years there will be a much better
drugs for HIV than the ones they have now.
You could become resistant to the drugs that they have now.

Some people in NYC that have given blood to the red cross found out they are POZ but they have led Sane lives without Toxic pills all these years.

There are pros and cons to testing.

save your sanity dont even test.

safe sex and healthy living no drugs and junk foods.

now go ahead and flame me.

Well, I'm not going to flame you. Testing is entirely up to you. Why bother? Who knows, maybe curiosity? Maybe concern? That is what makes America a great country you have that choice. You know if you travel abroad some countries make you take an HIV test and if you are Poz your not allowed in. What kind of society is that?
Meds being toxic. Maybe.. but so is Chemo therapy and both treatments have an end result in mind.
Sure you can wait to get tested. But I wouldn't want to walk into the doctors office and find out I am Poz and Have a viral load count over a million with 2 CD4 cells left.
The choice is yours.

I think the original poster is right
and I agree 100% with his idea
why would you want to test positive and then get on toxic pills ?

If I've understood things correctly: In democratic countries doctors do not FORCE you to do anything.
In fact effective treatment is possible only if both patient and doctor agree on treatment methods. Opinions on the effectiveness and need for immediate treatment vary greatly. I think that it is entirely up to the patient to decide when to start medications. The decision should of course be made after understanding one's medical situation.

I'd go for test and after a positive result I'd decide whether to go on medications. If I'd be negative, there's no need to consider these things. Based on this, I do not quite understand the point in your discussion.

I think testing is the best way to move on, when the stress and doubts about your status are bothering you because you had or at least you think you had an exposure with a lot of symptoms that most of the time are just related to that stress.

Besides knowing your status would help to protect from infecting others, health treatments is going to be always up the patient.

I'm not against anybody it's just i saw people here that because they are so afraid to test they can't enjoy their families, they can't enjoy life period, they live killing themselves with all this symptoms (i was one of them) and most of them are not even infected.

And whatever it is you need to know, so you can deal with it.

God Bless.

R.
