at a loss
      #23188 - 10/10/01 03:55 AM

Please let me know your opinion with regard to the following. I strongly believe I have been infected with HIV and herpes. I had unprotected sex with an possible HIV person, and 2-4 weeks later they develop diarrhoea, severe muscle and joint pains (particulary on tops of feet, elbows, knees and finally fingers), mild fever, swollen neck, and night sweats which may be indicitive of HIV seroconversion. At 10 weeks Thrush. At 24 weeks body rash (trunk and back with little red spots on my arms. It is 6 months since they have possibly been infected. Had HIV test and Herpes-->Pockit test done at six months. Both Neg! But how everything matches up to the apporiate time except rash. Penis burns on and off, but most of the time. And the scary part about it is that I got these symptoms before I knew what the symptoms of HIV or herpes where until I match them up on an std site. What the hell is going on with my body?
Not a hypochondriac!!

Hi,
If you had ARS at 2 weeks your HIV antibody test would have been positive at 1-3 weeks after first symptom showed up. sign of ARS 4 weeks after exposure is not common. If you have unprotected sex with a infected person your chance of contracting HIV is below 1% and then you have a negative test at 24 weeks, You are Negative and their is no chance that you have HIV. Almost all people today is positive at 4 weeks is positive. But to be sure we have 12 weeks for conclusive test result in sweden. Early in the epedemic we had 6 month and the reason for that was that we didnīt have studies on seroconversions. I think you should speak with your doctor and look for a another diagnosis. Also you should test for other STD. Please calm down you are losing the grip now and you have no reason to not trust your HIV test at 24 weeks and you can be sure not having HIV.

Please donīt read so much of symptoms of HIV and try to diagnose your self, You will go crazy. Burning penis is not a sign of HIV or ARS, possible other STD or fungus, I think you should ask a doctor of other STD and Fungus, Fungus on your penis can give signs of burning penis. Also the Eliza test that we using today is so sensitive that it detects tiny amount of antibodyīs and that the reason that it very common to have a false positive result because the test react on other antibodys in your body, like pregnancy and autoimmun diseases can give false positive test result. Elisa is always positive before Western blot and if your Elisa is positive you can use western blot to confirm HIV or false positive test. If you donīt have herpes it could be good to check for fungus on your penis or STD But you have not HIV and that is a Fact their is no data showing longer than 3 month in this millenium. Your test at 6 month is as good it gets. If you still worries about HIV talk to your doctor and ask him to do other viral load test to check your CD account but that not necissary and that is what your doctor will tell you. Take care!

Getting trush at 10 weeks is very uncommon! Normally thrush develops when your cd4 count is approaching 200, which is certainly not the case when you just got infected. Body rash at 24 weeks is certainly not related to ARS. So relax my friend, you are HIV-

I have been tested for all STD's chlamidia, Ghonneria, Syphillus, etc. Everything is coming out negative. I have spent close to a grand and went to alot of doctors and argued with them all.
One note---->I went to an std doctor who said I had herpes. He didn't give me a culture (nothing to culture) or a blood test. He said my symptoms pointed that way.
I went to a doctor a week later and tried to get a prescription and he ran a blood test (pockit test) for herpes and it came back negative! This was at six months. He said I didn't have it and the other doctor was foolish for not giving any kind of conformity test. Then he says to me it's all in my head. (that is bull. I know you can cause symptoms to yourself on some things, but I seriously doubt you can cause red marks and cracks on the head of your penis with just mere thought.
Don't know who to believe..
I need help. I cannot even touch my girlfriend anymore and am very depressed.
Is there anything they should test for that isn't a popular STD?
By the way.. Thanks for all the support and replies.
