What are the benefits of smoking marijuana for positive people and why does the federal government insist on keeping it illegal when the vast majority of people think it should not be especially for the sick (hell i know a 67 year old lady that puffs) not to mention there are a few tight asses on this site that could use a few puffs themselves

Chris,
HIV positive people usually, experience low appetite( leading to HIV wasting) and Nausea( due to medications). Therefore, they often use marijuana to stimulate appetite and to reduce nausea. Moreover, marijuana relieves the pain of peripheral neuropathy, however this aspect is under further study.
Having said, consumption of marijuana could lead to some serious health conditions.

I've had a few puffs in my time. I've had a few joints too.
In both cases I say "don't knock it till you've tried it" ;)

its because governments have thier dirty hands in the drug trade as well, and if it was to be legalized, they'd lose all that.....
