OK... sorry for all the panicky posts but I'm still panicking.
Went to the Sexual Health (GUM) Clinic on the 21st August (after my potential exposure of 26th July) and had a blood test. Negative for HIV, but obviously too early, proving only that I haven't been living with HIV unawares of course. There was nothing more than a pale light brown bruise, barely distinguishable from my (pale) skin around the needle mark.
Booked in for my 13th test - but I've been suffering from debilitating anxiety about the whole thing and went in for a bit of a review of 'symptoms' and some counselling. They said if I felt I wanted an interim blood test I could have one, as I said I was aware that around six weeks a majority would show even if 13th week was definitive. Had test. Came back neg. But... this was two days ago, I've only just peeled off the plaster (band-aid) and there's HIDEOUS dark red, thick-veiny looking bruising. It was a different nurse, on my other arm this time but... shit. Even if I'm showing neg *now* that's a sign isn't it?
I'm going to test positive on the important one.

Yeah. It's a sign of two things. The nurse isn't very good at getting blood and your imagination has run away with you.
If this 6 week test is negative, it's unlikely you have HIV.

this could happen when you dont put pressure on the gauze for a min or so , and the nurse was most likely not very good , anxiety is my middle name
