Hi there. I had chicken pox at 5 years old so can develop shingles. I haven't been to the doctor yet but have what I am pretty sure is shingles on the side of my chest (a pink rash which is itchy with bumps). I am terrified of HIV. I am only 30 years old and shouldn't be getting shingles at this age. Is this a sign I could have HIV? I have always used condoms and been with under 10 people. One was a little suspect, she was a drug user but tested negative. I had sex with her twice and used a condom which did not break for vaginal intercourse only. I am extremely, extremely terrified. How often does a 30 year old get shingles and not have HIV?

Shingles does NOT = HIV. My friend had shingles at 31. It happens... If indeed you used condoms and they did not break, you don't have to worry about HIV.

shingles can happen at any age, especially if you have been stressed out, just getting over a bout with them, shingles has a certain pattern to it and will not go pass the center line, in otherwords you only get them on one side of your body.

Shingles is usually painful. As was stated it stops at midline in your body. Usually if you have it on front, you most likely have it on the back. It follows a nerve dermatone. It can itch but don't scratch it. They look like little blisters on a red background. If you are so paranoid about getting HIV perhaps you should hold off on the sex life???? Sounds as if you are being safe. Get a grip. Anyone can get shingles.

I had shingles at 26 after partying way too hard at the millenium party in vegas. I too thought I had HIV because of this - tested negative. Shingles doesn't mean squat except that you're stressed or pushing your body too hard. Get tested anyway - its a great exercise to go through.

you are worried about the wrong thing. untill you test positive for hiv, its just shingles. stress will bring it out because of the stress, theres no age defining when it comes to shingles. go to get tested before you worry about hiv. good luck.
