Bad Sign... HELP!
      #228738 - 07/17/07 08:32 AM

For u guys unfamiliar with my story, please read a few posts below "My 6 Week Test". I went this past Saturday for a 6 week test but the counselor refused to test me saying I need to return at the end of 13 weeks because even if the test is NEG now, I still need to re-test then.
Today, I woke up with a fever that is climbing, last I checked was 100.8 F :(
I'm planning on going somewhere else to test because I really want that 6 week result. I'm pretty anxious. HELP!

Thank you for your best wishes! I went to a different testing site today and had the OraQuick Rapid Advance test performed. Results were NEG! I don't know what to think. I know the window period is 12/ 13 weeks but should I take comfort in my result today?
It's been 6.5 weeks, could I be seroconverting now? Or could this fever be something else? I'm so confused now...

Putting aside the CDC since we now have heard testimony from former Surgeon General's about how they had to push policy, not science.

The body develops antibodes around 25 days. People will start to test postive around 4 weeks. Over 99% of people that are HIV+ will test postive by six weeks. While the CDC still maintains 3 months, most will tell you that at 6 weeks you can relax. Test at 3 months because the CDC had set the window to that in 2001...(didn't Bush get elected in 2000?)

But with your current negative you should really relax. It won't change.

I'm anxious and getting depressed. My fever is gone since Sunday but i'm having some stomach issues, loss of apetite, and I'm feeling tired. I'm afraid the fever might come back and keep checking...
I keep hoping i'm OK...

Oh no! I woke up with a cold sore on my lip! I've gotten this from time to time in the past, but isn't it a sign of a weakened immune system? I'm scared, I can't help it!

Cold sores can also erupt because you are stressed...and I'm betting you are extremely stressed. Deep Breaths sweetie. You're okay.

My anxiety has been getting the best of me, so I went today for my 10 wk Oraquick Rapid Advance... results were NEG!!!
My symptoms threw me off and I feared the worst but now I feel better. I know results aren't conclusive until 12/ 13 wks but now I feel more confident. Thanks to those who responded to my post and have been helping me through this...
