Genital Herpes Question..
      #228591 - 07/07/07 07:31 PM

I know there aren't many Herpes infected people on this site but the forum description does say "and other STD's" so I'll take a shot...

In December I had vaginal sex with a prostitute. I was wearing a condom and was only "in" her for like a minute. Now in June/July, I have a little redness on the im of my penis but no blisters. It itches but not all the time. Only rarely. I have pain throughout my penis and this was present before the redness was present. I took an IgG blood test on tuesday and I'm awaiting the results.

Does anyone think this could be genital herpes? I just want to feel comforted really. Hopefully my test results on monday will come back negative.

The CDC says this about initial outbreak and symptoms of Herpes:

"Most people infected with HSV-2 are not aware of their infection. However, if signs and symptoms occur during the first outbreak, they can be quite pronounced. The first outbreak usually occurs within two weeks after the virus is transmitted, and the sores typically heal within two to four weeks. Other signs and symptoms during the primary episode may include a second crop of sores, and flu-like symptoms, including fever and swollen glands. However, most individuals with HSV-2 infection may never have sores, or they may have very mild signs that they do not even notice or that they mistake for insect bites or another skin condition.

Most people diagnosed with a first episode of genital herpes can expect to have several (typically four or five) outbreaks (symptomatic recurrences) within a year. Over time these recurrences usually decrease in frequency."

Here's their website for additional information

Unfortunately, as with HIV, you may or may not have symptoms and thus the only way to really know is with the test results. Good Luck on Monday.
