Please regulars have a look and give advice.

Now I am all freaked out, and a little pissed. I had sex one month ago with a female, and I used a condom. We didnt have rough sex nor did I even fully penetrate her. I just wasnt in the mood and after 5 minutes I got out of her and left to the bathroom to "finish myself off", anyway the stupid part is I pull off the condom and with the same damn hand that i handed the condom off with I jerk myself ....DUMB!!! What was I thinking, Jesus christ...So anyway here I am freakin out because I hear later thru the grapevine that the girl works at a strip club and has been known to sleep with customers for $$$. i go confront her and she admits that yes she has slept with a few "select clients" but its not like she goes to bed with anyone that asks or is willing to pay, she picks who she goes to bed with and she says she charges minimum 500 so I should be happy i got a freebie.... I am like are you fucking kidding me?????great.....I'm feeling all happy inside now, right....she goes on to tell me to relax she never ever does sex with out a condom cause she too is scared of HIV (so she does sex for money???) and that she has been tested regularily, the last one 4 months ago and is clean, ok so what about the past 4 month.s... i think, as my mind is racing 100 miles an hour.
So now we are at the present, a month after I might have signed my death warrant because i jerked myself with a hand that touched a used condom.

I head down to the local private clinic and they tell me the most sensitive test to take at this time is the PCR, and that I should have the results back in a day or two. Cost me $290 now i am reading that the damn PCR test gives false positives all time, and if it gives a false positive then you have to use other tests. So WHAT GOOD IS IT! Except to make me flip out and have a heart attack if it gives a false positive? Making me endure another wait of a few days. i feel as though the lab ripped me off and upsold the damn test when a Western Blot would have been just as good without the false positive risk????and much cheaper.

So now after my rant, I have a few questions, and I have been searching all over theinternet but i cant seem to get a clear answer. If you know please answer, if you don't know then please don't guess.

1. How easy is it for a woman to pass hiv to a man with a condom,
2 how easy is it without a condom. ( it was normal sex not rough nor anal, and no oral.)
3. Considering what i said what is the chance I could have caught something by jerking myself with a hand that pulled off a condom that had vaginal secretion on it. (Sidenote I was already worked up and so I came really quick, basically like 15-20 seconds of stroking.)
4. what is the best test i should take right now. We had sex around March 29th. ( I plan to take one later in about 3 months but for right now what is the most accurate and best chance of detecting without a false positive)
5. How unreliable is the PCR test i see numbers all over the place, what is an accurrate number of reliability?

Spare us the drama.

Long term studies with sero-discordant couples show that using a condom prevents infection of the negative partner. Now these studies are dealing with people that have sex with a person known to have HIV all the time. Not just some protected one night stand.

There has also never been a case of transmission from jerking yourself off with some left over fluid on your hand.

There is no reason to test after this particular incident, however everyone that is sexually active should have a full STD panel and HIV test done once a year.

I'm a drama major, but hey it makes for a good read, does it not?

Anon , Thank you for the response. It does put my mind at some ease, guess I made a donation to some doctor's mercedes fund with the PCR test.

I just hope I dont comeback with a PCR positive which I would assume to be false though with a nagging anxiety to work me into a crazy freaked out mode till I can take a second more reliable test.

First of all you used a condom. No risk. As for using the same hand- you should really find out how this disease is transmitted. This is why there is such lack of knowledge on it. You are not at risk so do not pay the money just pass go and get on with your life. I hope this helps.

i am also a worried well these days, but have been reading a lot on hiv. must say your post made me laugh after so many days, thank you for the drama (no offences).

now anon one and franfrog are worth listening to, so relax. i am much better after they replied to my posts. getting a normal antibody test now will be a very reliable indicator, at 6-7 weeks. i have not seen anyone on these forums who tested pos after a 6-7 week neg, and many experts say it is almost conclusive. you test after 12 weeks to be 100% sure but this will a good start. but, assuming the condom did not break or anything, you are already there, and dont need to test.

Given your story the chances of you being infected with HIV is very low. Even if she has HVI it does not survive outside the body for long periods of time. Also, it would have to have direct blood/seaman/vaginal fluid contact. So unless you had an open cut or sore on your “member” the chance of infection is limited (at best) during masturbation. If you had penetrated her, without a condom then the risk is higher for the opening of your urethra would be fully submersed in her vaginal fluid.
Anyway, the best way to determine if you have HIV is a basic test. If you did go through the cost of having the PCR and come up with a positive result – have an Infectious Disease Specialist do a complete HIV panel on you. This will provide you with a viral load which is the amount of the virus that is in your blood. That will be the true measure of your infection. Also, note that each person is different; some convert from negative to positive slower or faster than others. The six to nine weeks are averages for conversion. I should know; I was infected for over a year before I had positive test. The reason my doctor knew this is my viral load was over 300K.
Hope this helps.

question for pozinservice new

dear pozinservice, so does it mean that you got negative results during the year before testing pos? if you can tell us what tests and what results you received during the year before testing pos, it will help my own testing plan...

Due to the cost PRC was only once. I had WB done once every two months after that. Altogether I was tested six times before the positve result. Hope this helps. But also keep in mind that getting a viral load done really is the best was to know if you have been infected.

POZ,
Your situation caught my attention. Are you saying that you had a high viral load first, then more than one year to seroconvert?
