TATTOO RISKS???

I got my first tattoo on March 10 and have been worried about hiv infection ever since. I had the tattoo done at a shop that's been established for 15+ years, but is a little on the scuzzy side. I personally didn't see the artist open new needles because I was face down (tattoo on my back) but my sister was there and she said she watched him open brand new needles. The tools (as I was told) were autoclaved.
My problem is that 2 weeks after getting the tattoo, I got what seemed to be a cold and outbreak of eczema (a dry skin rash on my arms that I get that sometimes). I also have swollen lymph nodes in my groin and one in my neck. It's freakin me out because why would I have swollen lymph nodes this long? They're still swollen after 6 weeks!! The cold went away after 5 days but not the lymph nodes. Is this typical of hiv infection? I'm really scared can anyone help with some insight?
I know hiv infection isn't recorded b y CDC from tattoos, but does this sound like infection?

Gee and last month you were worried about stepping on a needle. Possible needle fetish?
I hope you are only posting this stuff because you are bored. Otherwise people might seriously question your mental health.

Well, Anon-One, this is actually my VERY first post. I'm completely new to this site and came here for a legitimate answer to my question. How's about if you have a knowledgeable response you just post it. To bad you thought I was someone different but if you're on this site to make people feel stupid or something, I suggest you find a real hobby. Now, if anyone has anything meaningful to say regarding my question...please let me know. THANKS!!

Your very first post.....here.
I didn't post a link from here, did I?
As you said. You are completely new to THIS site.....but you aren't new. Do you think people don't frequent different sites and get to know the off the wall posters?
Two posters names Curls. Who'd have thought! I mean....what are the odds?!!??
Same style of writing. Same concerns. Same non-risk questions......amazing.
You answered your own question about if this was a risk.....
"but my sister was there and she said she watched him open brand new needles. The tools (as I was told) were autoclaved." and this...." I know hiv infection isn't recorded b y CDC from tattoos"
I googled your old stuff also.....from before the forums update over at Aidsmeds. Remember all those nonsense concerns you posted???? I can post them if you like to refresh your memory....
You're just wasting people's time. The question is: are you doing this because your some pre-pubescent kid and think these nonsense questions of yours are funny or because you have mental issues that desperately need to be addressed.

Look buddy, this is my FIRST TIME posting ANYWHERE. Would you like to know why? Probably because I practice safe sex, maintain monogomous relationships with people I ask to be tested (for all std's) prior to sex, and I'm not a drug user. I just so happen to be a person who found out the symptoms of HIV infection and recently got a tattoo. Thought it could have some relation with what's going on with me right now.
Obviously I was right the first time about you being a loser who can't find any other hobbies then to make people feel dumb for their genuine concerns, so I'm sorry for YOUR issues. It's people like you that perpetuate all the stupidity and angst in the world. Thanks for your (breif) response stating that there's no risk. Have a nice life buddy.

Mmmmm..... "my sister was there and she said she watched him open brand new needles. The tools (as I was told) were autoclaved.". "I know hiv infection isn't recorded b y CDC from tattoos"
Btw: I also thought I was as perfect as you say you are, until 4 months ago I did something really stupid. Be careful when spitting to heaven, it can go right back to your face.
Anyway, the important thing here is: - It seems there was no risk. - Your symtomps can be from anything but HIV... go see your doctor!!!!
Oh, and since you're going to the hospital, maybe you can visit the psychiatrist. He might be able to help with your nonsense fear.

It doesn't matter if its the 1st post or the millionth. If you are concerned then go get an HIV test. Thats the only way you will put your mind at ease. But if the needles were sterile there really is no risk.

Well in a sense it does matter about the posting. If Curls ever was worried about real risks instead of preceived risks that he/she has encountered that would be one thing.
While I do agree everyone should test after a real risk and yearly as recommended by the CDC, I don't agree with superfluous testing for the sole purpose of allaying someone's fears over dubious exposures.
To begin with these tests create an additional burden on testing labs and add to the increase in health care costs.
People, such as Curls that are concerned and obsessed over and over again about non-risk incidents are showing a pattern of OCD and should be taking care of the root cause, not just putting a band-aid on the symptom.

Please Miss Anon_One, it is important to listen and take note of all that is real. As you said this person may have OCD, or they are just worried. I do remember you well, by the way and honestly you are still the same, even after registering on this forum. There are many people who have HIV that do not know they have HIV. With that said, I have a friend who believes that he was infected through receiving a tatoo. Although curles said, "the CDC does not take note in tatoo as being a cause for infection." When I met with the Health Department after my diagnosis, they made me sign a paper that said I would not get a tatoo. So the risk although minuscule, I believe does exist. Anyone who ever thinks they are infected with HIV, should be tested, it is the right thing to do. Not only to ease their mind, but also to ensure they do not have HIV. Whether you agree or disagree with superfluous testing, that is not your call. I am sure that where you got your medical degree from would have told you the same. Health Care costs are going to continue to rise due to the costs of drugs, our governments lack of any real solution to the pandemic, and the insurance associated with malpractice. With all that said, if you believe you are infected and think you should be tested wait the 3 months post exposure and take the test. There are many many organizations out there that do free testing on an anonymous basis. Good luck, D
