How long has the 3rd generation elisa been in use? This person on the board is really scaring me tonight. I was hoping that the matter could be settled at 12 weeks. How long have they been using the 3rd generation test.

I dont know the exact date I think it is 1995 96 ? I read some really good information from a HIV Doctor in South Florida from a website called GLCCthat doctor (not a crank) wrote that 6 months was pre 3rd generation elisa test and that this new test is so accurate it can detect the antibodies within 4 weeks and the lab techs are pros! they have it down ! you just have to read and read the dates too alot of information on the web is from pre 3rd generation tests he went into all that on the website saying the old tests were very weak in detection aslo the 6 month was used because people who were really risky for HIV never really knew the exact date they may have been exposed so they put a 6 month cap on it plus in the old days they even said 1 year they did not know what was going on now days they have it down with this elisa test.
