I am the "It's all over folks" poster on page 5 of this forum if you want more background information.
The good news is I did test neg at about 5/6 weeks. The bad news is that I have been sick for about a month now. Never been this physically ill in my life. I can't shake a runny nose, dry cough, mild fever, occasional sore/scratchy throat, and just unexplainable surges in nausea/almost fainting spells and other never felt before "sickness". I feel like there is a really powerful virus in my body. Ok, if HIV is the culprit my theory is that I had the initial ARS and I tested negative for whatever reason then I had sex with my gf and there was a superinfection that took place bc I was starting to feel somewhat better then immediately felt ill again soon thereafter. She also is exhibiting this pattern with the same kind of symptoms and she knows nothing at this point.
Would a persistent dry cough, runny nose, scratchy/sore throat, and other symptoms etc... persist for this long for someone who is going through ARS? I was under the impression it lasted a shorter amount of time and was more intense and then your asymptomatic - i.e. nothing. If a test positive, I have not felt more physically ill in my life for a longer period of time so it seems almost ironic or contradictary. Any encouragement would be nice bc I am just comletely depleted right now. Should get an over 2 month result back tomorrow or Thursday. Take care.

Forgot to mention that I have a real good reason to believe that my encounter was with someone who is HIV +.

You are "depleting yourself"! You are neg. We are in the middle of flu season - hello...
stop trying to match symptoms that you are having to HIV, you have a neg test

Why is it easy for you to believe a neg flu test but not a neg HIV test? What you have described is not "flu like" it is flu or a really bad cold! Get on with your life

you do not need this forum, you need a "crazy guy" appont. i really get angry at people that no matter how many times get comfirm they are ok, they insist they have HIV. not even the people who has it are that crazy. please, if you can not realize you are negative, and that, this is take precious time from other people who really have real concerns about been infected.
then start living like you have it, and move on.

Hi
Look the vast majority of people who get infected with HIV will show antibodies usually around the 5 week mark the average being around 25 days. Your HIV negative test at 6 weeks is a very good indicator you did not become infected. The reason behind the whole 13 weeks is that the CDC has to be certain not to miss any infections although very rare for people who test negative at 6 weeks will turn positive at 12/13 weeks they still have to be conservative as its peoples health we are talking about. And the CDC does not want a massive law suit this probably being more likely.
Take a deep breath and do not worry nor do not search the internet for HIV as you will be miss informed on a lot of sites stick to the body.com and another fantastic site called aidsmeds.com they will answer your questions for free and are very fast in doing so.
Symptoms do not = to HIV only a reliable HIV test at 12/13 weeks will give you a definite and reliable result. I spoke to a HIV specialist in Ireland in 2004 and he said that he gives people the all clear at 7 weeks so your 2 month test is as good as gold!
Good luck and god bless

Ok...you a Dr? You get swabbed and they test a culture. Your a real genuis aren't you! Plus, there is no "window period" for the flu. So, YES I do believe that result. I think you guys are the idiots here, but thanks for nothing.

I think you should give advice to someone who posts about somebody jerking off on their cheeseburger (it's here). They are crazy not me. I fingered, had my penis rubbed on a vagina, and got a bj from a HIV+ person and my gf has been sick for a month too with no knowledge. Your right I have nothing to worry about even after a 6 wk negative. Go "help" the cheeseburger person instead please!!!!

Well, since nothing you did was a risk it's not surprsing that you have tested negative. Remember, it's not the person, even HIV+ people, that are a risk, it's what you DO. Nothing you said is considered a risk. Not the fingering. Not the frottage. Not the blow job. You were aware that there has never been a confirmed case of transmission in the entire history of this disease?
Why are you so resistant to the fact that with a 6 week negative, couipled with a no risk situation means you aren't infected? I would think that would be cause for celebration, not insults.
Is there any valid reason for disbelieving your test resutls?

I certainly did not start the insulting tone that is for sure. Look the BJ not a big deal. Fingering probably not a bid deal unless I had a cut and I don't think I did. Rubbing against the vagina unprotected probably the biggest deal. I don't know what my combined exposure would be, but it's a real exposure however slight. Certainly more than a jerk off cheeseburger, which IS ridiculous!

I believe the 6 wk negative (what maybe 80% accurate). I don't know about the next one bc I am physically ill and have been for about a month and like I said my gf is too and she is one of those vegetarian types who works out everyday and has nothing to worry about psychologically. No illness and I would be going about my life. Trust me I don't want to say I told you say. NO WAY!

The 6 week test is 99% accurate, which is the best you get with any test. Massachusetts now uses just a 6 weeks window. It's only a matter of time before other states change their windows, thus forcing the CDC to update their recommendation to reflect the testing done today.

I'm sure you'll get all huffy, but really, your risks it's not much more, if any, risk than the cheeseburger guy. Sorry, you can think all you want that you were at risk, but you just weren't.
Do you think you're the only guy in the whole wide world in the last 25 years that has done what you did. Guess what. STILL NO CONFIRMED CASES OF TRANSMISSION FROM FINGERING, FROTTAGE OR BLOW JOBS.
Millions of cases from unprotected Anal and Vaginal Sex and needle use. A few from giving oral. But after 25 years the list of real risks is pretty short. What you're worried about doesn't make the list.
Now you can go back to feeling sorry for yourself over a non risk incident. And Cheer up. While you wouldn't have gotten HIV from what happened, you should could have picked up quite a few other STD's that unlike HIV are easy to transmit. You are getting a full STD panel didn't you? Or did you just think it was only HIV that you could get?
