Fourth Generation Test
      #22017 - 09/07/01 03:02 AM

I donīt undertand the question about fourth generation test. The diffrence between First and Third generation have been that first generation looks foor Ig M and Third looks for IgM and Ig G combined so that is the reason the third generation is better and you have 3 month and also the Antigen in third is much more specific and sensitive than first. Ig M dissapear sooner than Ig G. The fourth generation test combined antigen and Antibody I have heard no diffrence between third and Fourth Because the antibody test thirg generation is are as good it ever will be according to scientist but that is what I have heard so I donīt know if you only test at 12 weeks you will have a better result with fourth. Do anyone know what they have changed in fourth generation test is it antigen or what? I have heard antibody test for fourth is the sam as third if not you should have a very big change in the antigen. But it is good for thoose testing at 4 weeks to have a combined antigen and antibody test.

I disagree. The body makes antibodies immediately, and we just don't have tests sensitive enough to pick them up yet. Soon, I imagine 4 weeks will be conclusive.
