Window Period Debate: My Story
      #216872 - 12/04/06 11:56 AM

Hello friends! I notice how the window period issue keeps on recurring and I'd like to share my personal story:
After a HIGH risk exposure (unprotected insertive anal) with a confirmed POS individual, I tested as follows:

NEG @ 6 weeks via OraQuick
NEG @ 12 wks via OraQuick
NEG @ 13 wks (3 mos) via ELISA
NEG @ 6 mos via OraQuick

This WED 12/06, will be 1 year since my exposure and I plan to re-test since some people on the board still argue to test up to one year.
Now my actual risk from this exposure is calculated at 6.5 in 10,000. There are two possibilities: 1. I did not get infected, or 2. I have taken a really long time to seroconvert.
I hope to finally be able to lay this to rest on WED...
Wish me luck!
Carlos

I had a similar risk two years ago. Tested negative every three months (Oraquick) up to a year. Still with symptoms. But some time ago I started to realize that if you search the internet, every disease will be HIV related. So I'm starting not to believe the symptoms. I think six months will be enough.

NEG @ 12 mos via Oraquick! I can definitely leave this behind me...
To all you out there: TRUST the 3 month window period!
Thanks to all for your support during the year!
