How long before symptoms surface??

For those who are infected with HIV, How long was it after exposure before the symptoms surfaced? Weeks? Months?? Years even?? Second question, What are the most common symptoms of the virus?? If someone out there could explain what they've experienced in good detail,I'd appreciate immensely.

First of all, Symptoms are meaningless
Many people dont even KNOW when they were first exposed
NOT everyone gets symptoms
AND (most importantly)
The symptoms are identical with MANY other viral infections, including the common cold
The ONLY way to know is to get tested

See, just tonight there was a rude poster over on the "I just tested postive" board, that didn't understand why HIV+ people are welcomed to join into HIV negative conversations, but it didn't work the other way around.
It because you people always to bleed HIV postive people dry for information.
Symptoms mean nothing. Want to know your status? Simple get a test. Much more accurate than trying to match symptoms that are never the same for two people in a row.
Besides, my health issues and what I go through either because of HIV or not, just isn't your business.
