test results in... get them in person tomorrow
      #211591 - 10/13/06 05:58 PM

Help. I need advice on getting my results tomorrow. They came in earlier than the 2 week waiting time... 8 days. I am convinced that I am positive because of symptoms that won't go away for 4 months. Lymph nodes w/no explanation from the doctors. If someone could please give advice on what I should do after I get the results if they are postiive. I have children and must stay optimistic and live well. It was the honesty of the veterans on this site that gave me the courage to go get tested. God bless.

If you do test postive, you will be counseled as to what you need to do next. While it isn't easy, the best thing you can do for yourself it turn off the 'what ifs" and try to get a good nights sleep.

The fact you have had symptoms that won't go away for 4 months is an excellent reason to believe your test is negative. HIV just doesn't work that way. If it did, people wouldn't be going around for years and years not even knowing they are infected. 1 in 3 people infected don't even know they are infected. It's the LACK symptoms that allows this disease to be spread.

The fact that your results came in early doesn't mean you tested positive, the lab could have had a lighter load this week or you were given a longer turn around time to cover any delays from labs being too busy.

When I got my test results I was an emotional wreck, but I resigned myself to the Scarlet O'Hara approach and said"I will get over this and God as my witness I will never be sick again."Well,7 years later and a battle to the finish I don't look sick, changed my lifestyle to one better suited to deal with the virus.I weigh 230lbs.and am all muscle. No steroids.I have had an undetectable viral load for 7 years and aT-cell count of 730 at the time I was diagnosed My T-cell count was2 and my viral load was 734,014.I told my family that I was going to live another 40 years. It stopped them from worrying and allowed me to get on with life.If you do have a bad result, cry about one good time and remember,GOD is stronger than AIDS but you have to cooperarate and do what the doctor says.I put all of my 10years of knowledge of Vitamins and herbs to use and got better. This year I'm going back to work and back to school.I started painting again and just put the first set of them out to sale.Baby, you're gonna be just fine.Live for your babys and yourself not for someone else that fears sickness so bad they don't have sick friends.People like that are going through life with rose tinted glasses and it takes a disease to reveal what their true colors are. There are a lot of people out there that want you for a friend. You are not alone and don't let anybody tell you that you are.

Mike who was there andwalked away to tell about it

OKay, I just got back from getting my results. They are negative. I worried like hell for months. I am relieved, but I am also forever changed by coming on to this website to get support while worrying. I am humbled by the entire hiv/aids thing. I am lucky not to have it, but I am affected by knowing about all the courageous people who live with it. I just can't view life the same way. There are many veterans on here who posted kind comments while I worried. I just don't know what to do to give back or what to do about hiv/aids... the suffering... the stigma which I HATE!... You are all such good people.
