I have been reading a little on herpes. How soon can you get a blood test to see if you are caring the virus? When does it begin to show up? UG!

Sadface. Your guilt and shame of your situation is getting the better of you I think. Anyways....to answer your question. The herpes test is considered conclusive after about 3 - 6 months. Now you would be conclusive for it. THere are two tests. One is called Herpes Select and it is a blood test. You can get it from any local labs. The other is called a western blot herpes test(blood) which is very very accurate. More accurate of the two. Both are more than 99% accurate. Both show if you have HSV1 or 2. HSV1 however 90% people will test positive and it wont show if it has been transferred to your genitals.
I think you need counselling not a herpes test but it is in your hands.

Why you think you need to get tested? there are so many kind of herpes for example I tested positive for herpes through a blood test and usually you can be tested in about a month after exposure, herpes itself it is a very common and harmeless virus on its own. about 1/3 of the population in this country has some sort of herpes, obviusly genital herpes is embarrasing and highly contagious and unfortunanetly like HIV you can only control it.
By the way I got the herpes virus through a kiss with someone who had a small sore on her mouth.
