Well I went to my dentist today and they did a measurment of my gums and determined that I have gingivitis. I have had a risk of hiv and tested negative at 4, 7.5 and 12 weeks. I have also read that gingivitis is a early symptoms of hiv. So my concern is do I need to test again now because of this new symptom? I am still doing my research on this subject and it may be common in people in general but the searches I have done yeild alot about HIV. Just wanted to see what you all thought about this. Thanks.
Lynn

Lynn, gingivitis can happen to anyone. My husband had it and he is negative. You can retest at 6 months if it makes you feel better but you tested neg at 3 months. You are going to be fine.

I must agree with Fran and want to impress on you that symptoms mean nothing when it comes to hiv. With that said, no one here is an expert, but rely on personal research or experience when reply to a post. What you are reading on the net is also common with other conditions, but hiv gets alot of subject input. I highly suggest that if you are concerned go talk to your doctor about your symptoms. If you dont have confidence in your test at 12 weeks then wait till 6 months and repeat it. What ever you do, try to refrain from symptoms chasing, it will make your wheels spin but wont get you anywhere. Good Luck.

Lynn, walk away from the computer now.
You don't have HIV. You are conclusive.
Gingivitis is an extremely common mouth disease that doesn't know the difference between someone HIV+ or -. It is much too common in the general population to even hint at being connected with HIV.
I understand the circumstances of why you WERE concerned were tramatic,. but it's time to move on. You are HIV negative. Do youself a huge favor.
Walk away.

what you need is a good tooth brush. If you have tested Neg after 12 weeks you do not have hiv infection that is unless you insist. D.J.

Thanks annon and DJ you got a laugh out of me. I know I sound like one of those who just will not believe my diagnosis and I will admit it this whole experience has put the fear of god in me really. I do need to just let go of all of the fears related to HIV. I will keep telling myself that over and over. Thanks for all of you support through all of this.
Lynn
