Alright, a month ago I woke up and found this really weird looking rash in my groin area (near the base of my penis), it was quite itchy and immediately I thought STD STD STD. Well...the last time I had sex was 3 months(unprotected vaginal) before the rash showed up, and I know most STDs like herpes, chlymidia, ghonorrea, etc show up much quicker than that, and that an STD like that was pretty much out of the question. Other than the rash I had no other symptoms. Anyway, I went to the dermotologist 2 weeks later and she said it was a fungal infection and perscribed a cream, which i used for a week and it has since went away. Well anyway, I was wondering if HIV could possibly cause a fungal infection due to lowering the immune system? The only other syptom I think I might have is that my tongue is a little white tinted. Could this be like minor thrush? or is thrush pretty easily recognizable when someone has it? Are there varying intesities of thrush? And are there any other symptoms besides the white tongue? Actually, I don't think my tongue looks any different than it always has, but when i looked up at it really close it looked a little white. But I also looked at pictures of tongues on the internet and it looks like those...haha. Other than this I really haven't had other symptoms. I've been sick once in the past year (about 2 months ago) that I can remember, maybe even longer than that. If my immune system was really lowered to the point where i'd get thrush, would I also be getting more colds? Anyway, all I want to know, is that are the two symptoms I provided, symptoms of HIV? I've also felt nauseous a few times this week, but it only happens when I think about possibly having HIV. I have had multple partners in the past, but they were mainly one-time deals with people I thought to be pretty clean, but I know looks mean nothing. Would I be a good candidate to get tested?

the best thing you can do for yourself is just get tested. none of us can give you a conclusive answer to your question. thrush can be caused by numerous things. thrush burns like the fires from hell. the best thing you can do is get tested. daisey

I know getting tested is the best answer someone online can give me. But can HIV possibly cause a fungal infection in the groin area?

Like Dasiey pointed out, it is hard to tell what can happen as a result of this virus. Instead of giving you the wrong answer, you going to have to accept, we dont know. Best bet is to contact a doctor with your concerns. All we can do is suggest when to test, and share some personal stories and information that might help releive some of your stress. Good Luck, and remember to test after al least 3 months.
