A little glass of half full for the worriers
      #205833 - 09/01/06 08:25 PM

So I've been observing some downright meanness on the board lately. Granted, there are alot of scared hypochondriacs out there...however, I was one of them at one time. A little gentle encouragement goes a long way. Enough said.
Now...for the cheery, philosophical outlook portion of your Friday night entertainment: Hey, the one thing we are ALL guaranteed when we are born, is the FACT that we will die. If getting tested for HIV is so terrifying, consider the folks that died of cardiac arrest, stroke, aggressive cancers, car accidents, etc.,...Don't you think they would have EMBRACED the opportunity to find out early enough to prolong and improve thier life? Think what a gift of power you've been given! To actually have a say in your own transition...wow.
I'm not saying a pos. diagnosis is all wine and roses, but can't we take some pleasure...yes...pleasure, in having a proactive say in our mortality? It's a luxury!

Interesting, coming from a self admitted hypocrondriac.

"Think what a gift of power you've been given! To actually have a say in your own transition...wow."

Wow indeed. A say in my own transition? From what? Living to dead?

"I'm not saying a pos. diagnosis is all wine and roses, but can't we take some pleasure...yes...pleasure, in having a proactive say in our mortality? "

Not wine and roses? Really!!???!! A self admitted hypocondriac knows what a HIV diagnosis is all about?

A proactive say in my mortality. Hell I just try to stay one step ahead of it. I have no desire to work with my mortality.

You paint an interesting picture. However from my side of the world, it seems more than trite and totally lacking of what it is like to live with HIV, but you go ahead and keep telling us how empowering it is.

You poor thing. You're so blinded by anger and bitterness that you label my CHOICE to feel empowered as trite.
You even ASSUMED that I am still an untested hypochondriac.
Everyone's perception is their own, personal reality. I make a conscious choice everyday to have my "interesting" outlook. I could very well choose to be angry and bitter, too. However, I think the mind/body connection has a significant impact on overall health...I choose to feel empowered. It works for me. I was just trying to share that in hopes that it may help someone else.
I wish you well.

No, I'm pretty sure you're an overtested hypochondriac.
