I'm acutely aware that ON AVERAGE it takes HIV 10 years to progress to AIDS, usually at the onset of an 'AIDS-defining' illness. Have there been cases of very quick progression to AIDS (due to more maligant and mutated strains)? Are there any indications AT ALL that you might have HIV within that 10 year period? Any signs to lookout for? These questions are being posed by me, an illogical, non-sensical, paranoid, frightened person who does not currently know his/her satus, and in effect, is not on any drugs which would delay the natural progression of HIV. Thanks

Earlier progression to AIDS is determined by an individuals immune response and the level of viral replication.
Just get tested and you can draw a line under your fear.

You can ask these types of questions and speculate until the cows come home. But none of this is going to give you an answer to your real question, which is "Am I Infected"?
There aren't any shortcuts. You're gonna have to test to get that answer.

I showed symptoms before the 10 year mark. I had shingles, numbness in the hands and feet, very dry scalp, and skin.
So I decided to get tested before I progessed to AIDS.....
and it came back negative.
Lession to be learned... get tested if you're unsure.

Great Post Anon. Good lesson to share.
Symptoms mean nothing. Test and be safe.
