ARS SYMPTOMS, MAYBE? A LONG STORY FROM 7/26 POSTIN
      #202127 - 07/31/06 09:49 PM

Hi There,
Here is the story. I was seeing someone for almost a year and back in Nov, we decided we wouldn't use protection because we were just seeing eachother. After our last encounter, a couple of days before feb 14 (unprotected), I decided I didn't want to see him anymore. We slept together once more at the end of feb around the 24th but he did not ejaculate inside of me. At the beginning of March, I started feeling nausea, tired and having cravings. I then feared that I was pregnant but I wasn't. At the beginning of april, I started getting headaches, neck pain and back pains. I went to see the dr. I was told that its tension headaches and that I am really stressed. I have 2 jobs and 3 kids. Then, my whole body started aching, mild for about 20-30 secs. (migatory aches) After doing some research, I got scared and depressed thinking that I may have contracted HIV. I went to my GYN on April 20th and told him what I was experiencing. He took urine and blood and did a full screening for STD's. Everything came back fine. Early March, my throat started bothering me. I got pink eye, started developing acne and spots on my face. In June, whenever I went into a cool place, I got these chill sensations that would last a couple of seconds. The slightest breeze would cause these sensations. Then, my gums started aching for no reason and they changed colors on me. I went to my doc on June 12th and told her about everything and she treats me for depression. I asked her to take another HIV test but she told me HIV doesn't present itself this way. I didn't take the medicine she prescribed but I have been taking vitamin supplements and resting more and stressing less. I don't know what to think. I am still getting symptoms to this day. I go to the Dr again early aug and will get another test......

nope .. IF ...and i repeat IF a person experiences ARS symptoms (most dont) they come 2-4 weeks after exposure, and they last NO LONGER than 2 weeks.

the symptoms you describe are stress/anxiety related* Check into some counseling, approach it with an open mind, and honest mouth and a forgiving heart, and your symptoms will quit*.....dont belive me, try it...talk to a counselor about your anxieties, once week for 90 days, and see if things dont get better for you.

Good Luck & God Bless*

Don't worry, I'm also in a situation like yours.....the last time I had sex was 4 years ago, and I have all the symtops of HIV(my results are normal) Don't look up for symtops on the internet...INTERNET IS NOT A DOCTOR ...........it could only make you feel worse

Why are you paying a doctor when you refuse to listen to what they say and refuse to take the medication prescribed for you?

It seems you THINK you know more than your doctor does. So don't listen to the facts. HIV doesn't present in the way you described. Your 'symptoms' sound like stress and anxiety.

Even in a monogmous relationship you don't have unprotected sex until you both have had full STD screenings together.

Have to agree with AIDS2HIV - you wouldn't still be having ARS symptoms now. Even the illness you described doesn't sound like ARS.

But, if in doubt, get tested. And, practice safe sex!

Just to add, I didn't take the medication because insomnia is a side affect and I have been suffering from insomnia since April and thought it may make it worst. Heard all sorts of stories about antidepressants so I decided to do the vitamins and supplements instead. Started going back to the gym and just try not to let things stress me (directed by my doctor). I do feel better than before (physically and mentally) but not 100%.... I have never experienced anything like this before so it shook me up and yes, I will be practicing safe sex all the time!!!
Thank you all for your input. Its much appreciated. Keep up the good work here on the forum.

God bless you all!

It sounds like you waited about two months from your last potential exposure before you got your test. That should be enough time to get a fairly accurate test result. Still, if you're worried, go ahead and get tested again -- you're way past the window period now. If your doctor resists, go to a public health clinic or Planned Parenthood.
