PCR DNA Article
      #199755 - 07/12/06 04:28 PM

The CDC article below is interesting regarding a specific incident and how PCR testing was used. Of the pcr tests given in this instance only one was a negative that ended up being a positive, but that test occured less than 28 days after the exposure and pcr proviral DNA tests are deemed to be definitive only after 28 days. Interesting read...

This is expensive and a lot of doctors suggest against it as there are a lot of false positives. The anxiety of not knowing can be crushing. I debated driving 4 hours to the states (i'm canadian) but I read by Dr Bob and a couple of other places that it is not worth it. THe costs were going to be 360$

I'm not suggesting it. As you saw in the article they use Elisas too and they agreed with the pcrs after the right window. I did have a pcr due to my anxiety but a high rate of false positives is a big issue...
