how to tell if it's precum or a discharge? i've heard some STD have clear discharge, so how to tell?

Pre cum happens when you are erect. Discharge can happen when erect but to make sure, if you are limp and there is something coming out of the urethra (opening of penis) that is usually discharge. It can come from many different things but if you have discharge you should see an STD clinic. You may have gonorrea or clamida which are very treatable with antibotics.

From what I understand, discharge from STDs is thick (kind of pus-like), and cloudy to yellowish in appearance with a foul odor to it. Precum is a clear, lubricating, sticky substance and is pretty much odorless.
