Bruising
      #197577 - 06/25/06 08:42 PM

Can random bruising for no apparent reason be a sign of positive status? Also it feels like I am losing weight for no reason.I may have been exposed 14 weeks ago but tested negative after 6 weeks. Have had no significant fever or illness, oral white spots or fatigue during this time. Otherwise I feel good.Any response would help.

You are past the 13 weeks needed for a conclusive test. Test again and put the matter to rest. Since you had a negative at 6 weeks more than likely you will continue to test negative.

See your doctor to determine the cause of your unexplained bruising.

Just get a test again. You're past the window period, so your results would be definitive now. Bruising and weight loss can be HIV related, but they can also be related to many other things, and should be evaluated by a doctor if they continue.

Bruising is too general a symptom. You can't diagnose HIV by symptoms. You need to test again if you tested at 6 weeks. You're past the window period so I would just take another test. Having tested negative at 6 weeks, there is every reason to believe you will be negative when you test again. The average time to develop detectable antibodies is just 25 days per the CDC.
