WebMD states that the use of corticosteroids can alter the HIV test... My fiancee took the Home Access test approx. 17 months after sex with his ex-girlfriend, it came back negative. During the month before the test, he had 3 epidural injections (corticosteroids) in his back for his bad disk. The test was taken 3 weeks after his last injection... will these shots affect the test results? Could they cover up and/or reduce the antibodies, if they were present?

Why not call Home Access and ask them? Or ask WebMd to explain their postion.

I've never heard that any medication affects an HIV test. Corticosteroids are anti-inflammatory meds, and I can't see why they would delay antibody production. But perhaps you should ask a doctor.
